It's Elementary

So, the dwarf bust is currently on hold. Our instructor feels we all need more anatomy practice before we move on to character concepts. Seems about right. At least for me, that is. So, the real person I'll be modeling, due on Tuesday, is this chap who wouldn't look out of place in a Sherlock Holmes story :

That's it for now. I should get to sculpting.

Dark Sun Dwarf Bust

Just posting the first part of my character model. Keep in mind that this is still a work in process and that the finished piece will be textured and painted. I've picked the dwarf on the cover of the Dark Sun Campaign Setting for D&D 4e as seen here:

Now, here are the screens of the character bust.

and in profile.

That's it for now. Let me know what you think.

Square Sculpts

So, here are a few sculpts I did for class; just building facial anatomy from a plane before we get started on our character sculpts. I modeled these in Mudbox 2012 not only because I own a copy, but because, to this point all of my sculpting experience has been in ZBrush. It was different, but surprisingly easy to get used to. Anyway, here are the sculpts.

I'm not so happy with the ear; it's too bumpy even though I smoothed the crap out of it. Let me know what you think.

Cephalotype

Just a few shots of the base mesh head we're working on in my Game Modeling class.

Yep, the back of the head still looks a little wonky and, true to form, the mesh came out cartoony. Let me know what you think.

Model Dump

So, here are some projects I worked on while in one of my modeling classes. First is a crab-like creature. Base mesh was modeled in Maya and taken into Zbrush for detailing.

Second up is another model done for class. Sculpted in Zbrush from a base mesh head , I thought it would be fun to model Bruce Willis. Happily, I found that the bust was looking more like Bill Nighy and so I switched.

Anyway, that's about it for now. I think they turned out fine but, could use more work. Let me know what you think.

J.
